Associazione Italiana Giuristi d’Impresa (AIGI), the Italian Association of Company Lawyers member of ECLA (European Company Lawyers Association), will be running the new edition of the Summer School again at the medieval village of Bertinoro (Forlì – Cesena) – Italy.
The Summer School is based on strong professional experience of the Speakers and it provides participants with the opportunity to get closer focusing on key knowledge of sustainability for in-house lawyers with the aim of approach topics and new trends balancing theory and practice, offering an effective and interactive discussion, exchange of know-how and best practices. The course is a great opportunity to learn about fundamental concepts with fall under each of the environmental, social and governance factors and it is aimed to combine academia and management experience.

The reference language of the course is English and the program is aimed at Legal Advisors, Heads of Legal, General Counsels who are interested in deepening the challenges brought about by achieving sustainability through law.
This course will benefit participants with different levels of experience and it is specifically designed to gain knowledge about legal principles and instruments to deal with the legal order on sustainability at the International, European Union and national levels. The audience being composed only by in-house counsels will allow team working between people having similar background and eager to share their experience with other in-house counsels.

The Summer School is a unique chance to acquire knowledge and skills that will benefit you in your professional career and will give you an overview on the vocabulary and concepts that are increasingly crucial for environmental, social and governance matters in the inhouse lawyer practice.
At the same time, the Summer School presents an opportunity to enjoy some free time in an informal context through social activities organized in Bertinoro.

This course will guide the participants through the present and future impacts of environmental, social and governance in the business context and how they reflect their implications for inhouse lawyers through contracts, compliance and emerging legislative requirements.
The lessons will be a balance of theory and practice and exercises based on a combination of focused lectures and case studies to learn how to incorporate sustainable considerations into legal duties.
The classes will be taught by international academic speakers and legal managers working in multinational companies.

Michele Amendolagine

I joined Generali in 1991, after some years in legal professional arena. I started as officer in the Legal Office and then in the Corporate Secretary, which I leaded since 2002 to 2015. I have been non-executive member of the board of directors of several Generali Group Italian companies (es.: Toro Assicurazioni, Europ Assistance Italia, and others) as well as Secretary of their board of directors, Secretary of Assicurazioni Generali’s Surveillance Body and non-executive board member of Generali group Managers Pension Fund. Outside the Group, I have been member of the Board of directors of Emittenti Titoli.
Currently I am Secretary of the board of directors of the Fondazione Generali THSN, member of the Board of Auditors of Assonime and member of the Policy Committee of EuropeanIssuers.

Michele Carpagnano

Michele Carpagnano is a partner in Dentons’ Rome office and the head of the Italian Competition & Antitrust practice, PhD, he holds a teaching position in EU Competition Law at University of Trento. Founder and Co-Director of the Trento Summer School in Advanced EU Competition Law & Economics, he is also the Founder and Co-Director of the Osservatorio Permanente sull’Applicazione delle Regole di Concorrenza. As Attorney he represents national and multinational companies before the Italian Competition Authority as well as the European Commission and he has been involved as a legal expert in several cases and class actions before domestic courts concerning antitrust infringements. Michele Carpagnano advised the European Parliament on the introduction of EU legislation on collective redress. He is author of three books on private antitrust enforcement and several articles on competition law issues.

Cecilia Carrara

Cecilia is a partner in Legance Law Firm. Cecilia has significant experience in the field of national and international, commercial and investment arbitration proceedings, both institutional and ad hoc, acting as counsel and as arbitrator. She further represents international and Italian companies in arbitration-related proceedings in front of the national courts, such as recognition and enforcement proceedings of arbitral awards.
Cecilia also focuses on mergers & acquisitions, extraordinary corporate transactions and commercial contracts, mainly representing foreign clients investing in Italy. In particular, Cecilia is responsible for the Legance German desk, having a specific focus on German speaking countries and Eastern Europe. Cecilia coordinates the corporate social activities of the Firm.

Giovanni Cerutti

Giovanni Cerutti is SVP and Regional General Counsel of NTT DATA Emea Ltd. (UK) since 2012, when he set up the Legal & Compliance organization across the Region. He has also been active in M&A transactions ever since.
He is currently Lead DPO (CIPP/E certified), with responsibility over 12 operational entities in Europe, Middle East and Far East. After graduation and legal practice, he earned a Master’s Degree as Fulbright Scholar at Urbana-Champaign Law School (USA). He has gained more than 35-year professional experience as In-House Lawyer in International Groups (ENI, Honeywell, Bull, Wang, Getronics, Value Team, Value Partners, NTT DATA). He is a “Dirigente” since 1993. He is pro-bono Board member of ECLA – “European Company Lawyers Association”, non-profit Association of over 20 National Chapters. Co-author of the White Book “Company Lawyers: independent by design” (Lexis Nexis) and of an article re “M&A-related Escrow Agrts and other Collaterals”, in book published by Giuffrè for AIGI Italy.

Fabio Fiumanò

Fabio Fiumano’ is Legal Manager Southern Europe & Compliance Officer at Hilti Italia S.p.A.
Hilti is a Global company known for quality, innovation and direct customer relationships, operates in more than 120 countries with about 31.000 employees around the world, contribute to making work on construction sites. Before being Legal Manager Southern Europe&Compliance Officer, Fabio was Labour&Compensation Specialist, Legal Counsel and Legal Manager Italy managed also the HSE department for more than 10 years.
He achieved degree in Law (2004) and specialization in civil law after two years of postgraduate school (2006). Fabio main activities and responsibilities are national and international contracts, compliance programs, crisis management (as Crisis Coordinator), risk management (as secretary and member of the company Risk Committee). From 2021, his responsibility has been extended to the Southeast Europe (11 countries).
He is an active member of AIGI, member also of Summer School Scientific Committee since 2018.

Pietro Galizzi

Pietro Galizzi is the Head of Legal, Regulatory and Compliance Affairs at Eni Plenitude S.p.A. Società Benefit, one of the largest Italian companies and a main player in the oil & gas industry. Before being Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs at Eni Gas e Luce S.p.A., Pietro Galizzi was Eni S.p.A.’s Retail Market Gas & Power Legal Assistance Senior Vice President. Before joining Eni, from 2002 to 2013, Pietro was Saipem’s General Counsel. In these roles, he has covered a wide cross section of legal activity, including compliance, litigation/arbitration, contract negotiation, contract administration and the full range of corporate legal activities. He has been a member of the UNIDROIT Working Group on International Long-Term Contracts, participated in the ICC Commission on Arbitration, Working Group on the Role of In-house Counsel in Dispute Resolution and in the European Advisory Board of the CPR. Pietro regularly lectures on International Business Law at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan, Italy), LUISS Guido Carli (Rome, Italy) and Quest Master Class (Dubai, UAE).

Cosimo Pacciolla

I joined the Q8 Legal Department in 1993 after working for some years in a law firm specialized in criminal company liability. My first experience was working in public administration, during my university studies.
I became a manager in the Q8 Legal Department in 2002, and subsequently was appointed as Antitrust and Whistleblowing Compliance Officer.
I am a member of working teams in Confindustria and UNEM related to the areas of Company Criminal Liability, Antitrust, Environmental and Health and Safety.
In the B20 organization, I am a part of the “Integrity and Compliance” taskforce.
I am a member of scientific committees in the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and REMTECH and I lecture at the universities of LUISS and “La Sapienza”, among others.
I am also the author of different articles and publications on all the topics described previously.

Carmelo Perrone

I am a legal and compliance counsel with 25+ years of experience in private practice in Italy and abroad. I have worked for international law firms and for multinational pharmaceutical/medical device companies. My experience in the pharmaceutical world includes patented drugs, generics, OTC products, vaccines, medical devices and diagnostics. Currently I work for the Global Sustainability function as the Compliance Director for AstraZeneca Italy, a science-led, patient-focused pharmaceutical company.

Maria Katharina Rauchenberger

Maria Katharina Rauchenberger is Head of the Legal Department of the Ruffino Group, i.e. of four Italian companies belonging to the US multinational Constellation Brands, Inc, based in the state of New York.
She has Mitteleuropean origins and achieved her French-German bilingual degree in Law at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, with a specialization in commercial law and a master in European law. She then moved to Florence, creating the Legal Department of the Ruffino Group in 2011.
As a member of the Executive Committee she specialized in Business Sustainability Management, achieving her Master at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, and in Managerial Finance, achieving her Master at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
She manages national and international contracts, corporate activities, disputes, compliance with applicable legislation and plays the role of internal member of the Supervisory Body. She is an active member of the Tuscan section of the Italian Association of Corporate Lawyers (A.I.G.I.).
Over the years he has acquired a consolidated experience in the commercial field and recently her responsibility has been extended to the management of contracts in the EMEA area (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

Raimondo Rinaldi

A.I.G.I. Member of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee. Emeritus President of A.I.G.I. Lecturer at the National School of Specialization for Corporate Lawyers held by A.I.G.I. in Milan and at the Master of Business Law at LUISS University in Rome; speaker in seminars and conferences on compliance, sustainability, antitrust and distribution law aspects and author of various publications.
After private practice in Rome, he worked in IBM Semea Law Dept (Milan), in IBM Europe Law Det (Paris), in Exxon Chemical Europe Law Dept (Brussels). Esso Italiana Law Dept General Counsel from 1997 to 2021 having also the coordination of legal services to ExxonMobil affiliates in the Mediterranean area from 1998 to 2008. A.I.G.I. Representative for Center and South Italy from 2008 to 2012 and A.I.G.I. President from 2013 to 2019.
